Whether you're back-to-school shopping or just back-to-fall shopping this season, you might want to strap on a backpack for maximum style points.
As a college student, a gorgeous, gleaming python tote isn’t exactly the most practical choice of shoulder decor when a pile of history books is pulling you down. Carrying too much on one shoulder (more than ten percent of your body weight to be exact) often strains the opposite one and creates tension in the back. On the other hand, donning an intense North Face backpack or holding onto your worn and torn JanSport number from middle school could potentially tarnish your otherwise stylish ensemble.
Thankfully, backpacks have made a comeback on the fall runways with recent favorites from Alexander Wang, Tory Burch, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. Not only can you channel your inner-tomboy, but you can also reinterpret schoolgirl chic—why not decorate the straps with pins and buttons? Sure, they’re trendy, but having two straps instead of one can make all the difference—especially for students carrying heavy laptops and colossal textbooks. Now, with designers churning out drool worthy varieties for the fall, you can stay fashionable without losing that hands-free convenience that backpacks offer.
Are backpacks too trendy for your taste? Would you wear one in the fall?
Here are some of our favorite picks for backpacks that will compliment, not kill your look:
Small sheepskin rucksack by Topshop, $160; Corduroy backpack by Deux Lux, $68; Sydney velvet backpack by Alexander Wang, $775.

they are kind of trendy, but i do find that they make life easier when my professors ask me to buy books that weigh more than my head :)
