If there is ever a time to buy and wear fur (real, faux, or vintage), now is that time.

F is for Fur, Fur & More Fur

Love or hate it, fur is here to stay. The Fall 2010 runways were positively filled with the fluffy stuff from Chanel's ridiculous head-to-toe Yeti ensembles (which only Joe Zee can pull off) to the sophisticated furs at Bottega Veneta and the beyond gorgeous offerings by new StyledOn fave, Altuzarra.

But fur isn't just big this season, it is colorful (yellow, purple, red, blue), cut-up, pieced together in patchwork pieces, and is being used in rather unexpected ways (see Michael Kors' pencil skirt and Balenciaga waist-emphasizing puff below)...

Fur on the catwalk, left to right: Warm and wonderful at Prabal Gurung; 21st century fur at Balenciaga; Classic 70s at Derek Lam; Marc Jacobs' retro-throwback; Michael Kors All-American take on the trend

More from the runways: Pure sophistication at Bottega Veneta; Varsity hues at Proenza Schouler; Ferocious fur at Lanvin; Ultra violet at Versace

While we wish we could be everything straight out of Net-a-porter, Barneys or Bergdorf Goodman, our favorite places to shop for fur has got to be at flea markets (scored a mink stole at the Brooklyn Flea last summer for $30), vintage stores, and consignment shops. If you're in LA, check out Nola Singer's top five spots to shop here, or if you're headed to the Hamptons, check out Abbie's vintage round up first.

If vintage isn't your thing, keep in mind that right now the newer, faux options are all the rage. Places like Fovever21, Urban Outfitters, Zara and H&M are all currently stocked with killer styles that you can bring home for less than $100.

Will you be wearing fur this fall?
