Swimwear designer Brette Sandler is down in Miami for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Discover her favorite spots in the Magic City from Gansevoort South to Casa Tua in our all new StyledOn Postcard Series.
New York-based designer Brette Sandler's sophisticated, metropolitan approach to swimwear, from her body-con construction of silhouettes to her fashion minded attention to print, color and detail, achieves an undeniably high-fashion edge. Incorporating luxe extras such as jewels, chains, ruffles, pleats and other couture-minded details into her one and two-piece classic swimsuits, Sandler accomplishes a collection that elevates swimwear to the next level and is perfect for the sexy beach of Miami.
And speaking of Miami...
"I’m down in Miami right now for Fashion Week Swim," says the designer. "I love the energy of this city during Swim Week - it's one of my most important business trips all year, but I always take time to hit the evening events and hot spots of the city.
"I've been coming here almost every year since the age of 2, since it’s a short trip from NYC. I love staying at the Gansevoort South - the moment you walk into the lobby you’re hit with the most amazing smell, a combo of surf wax and seashells. The suites are gorgeous and airy (perfect satellite workspace) - and honestly, what girl doesn’t love hot pink couches and ocean views? And of course Cafe Bustelo is right next-door for a quick caffeine fix.
"I always fly down a few extra days before Swim Week starts so I can hang by the beach and pay a visit to the Webster on Collins - one of my favorite stores. In Miami, when it comes to fashion, more is more!"

So tell us, Brette, what's in your suitcase?
My Blank Denim cutoff shorts, Stella McCartney macramé t-shirts, hot pink/red patent leather Lanvin sneakers, and a stack of my new beach bangles (sold out everywhere!) for days at the trade show. My (Brette Sandler) coco triangle bikini, Kelly bandeau bikini, and crocheted beach hoodie for stolen moments on the beach. Phillip Lim laser cut dress for when I hit up the tents for the shows.
Best eats and drinks in Miami?
I crave the popovers at BLT over at the Betsy Hotel - one of my favorite restaurants in Miami - total food coma. And for drinks I love Casa Tua - always a great vibe and yummy food. Cozy bar on South Pointe is a total local hotspot – it’s the perfect place to grab drinks after a long day and go dancing with friends.
Want to live la vida Brette Sandler? Start with one of her killer pieces and hit up Miami before the hot days of summer are gone.
Have you been to Miami? Where are your favorite spots?
